The music of Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s upcoming film Haami was launched on 1 May at the Open Air Theatre in Jadavpur University.
Having been former students of the university, Mukherjee and actress Churni Ganguly, who also plays an important role in Haami, considered it best to launch the film's music at 'Sanskriti’, the annual festival of the prestigious institution.
The music was launched with a quiz competition on the director duos’ previous films, followed by performances of music director Anindya Chatterjee and singer Iman Chakraborty. The event turned even more interesting with impromptu participation by child artistes Broto Banerjee and Tiyasha Pal. They matched their steps with the 'Bhutu Bhaijan' song, sung by Shreyan Bhattacharya and already a popular number from the film.
“This is probably the first time in Bengali cinema that all the songs in an album are sung by children,” Anindya Chatterjee said. However, a special song in the film has also been sung by Chatterjee and singer-politician Babul Supriyo.
Actresses Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Aparajita Adhya, Debolina Dutta and Tanusree Shankar from the ensemble cast of the film were also present for the occasion.
A take on friendships made in school, parent's relationship with teachers, and the recently reported cases of child sexual abuse in school campuses, Haami is scheduled to hit the screens on 11 May.
