Actor Jim Sarbh and actress Kangana Ranaut are in for some criticism after a video surfaced online that has Sarbh cracking a 'rape' joke and Ranaut laughing hard on it. The duo is being picked for being "insensitive" towards serious issues like rape.

The incident reportedly occured on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival, where Ranaut and Sarbh had gathered along with few others.

The video has the Padmaavat actor saying, “I would rather be raped by 12 prostitutes than touch alcohol. And the Punjabi is like, ‘Me too! I didn’t know there was an option!’.” This is followed by loud laughter and applause by Ranaut and others.

The actress is known for speaking up against gender injustices. She was one of the very few artistes from Hindi cinema who spoke against actor Salman Khan when he, while promoting Sultan (2016), said he “felt like a raped woman” after shooting for the film.

“We all agree it’s a horrible thing to say. It’s something extremely insensitive,” she had said. Therefore, Ranaut's laughter at Sarbh’s joke has not gone down well with the Tweeple.

Later, Sarbh offered a clarification saying his comments were taken "out of context". While speaking to Firstpost.com, he said, “Sexual violence is a serious issue and I treat it as such. It is unfortunate that my comments were taken out of context. I do not know nor have I ever condoned any form of sexual violence.”
