Pannu, who is trained in martial arts, looks fit in the motion poster and seems to be wearing the uniform of the Indian women's hockey team. To prepare for the part, the actress is said to have recieved a month-long training from Singh himself.
Interestingly, her characater is introduced as Harpreet instead of Harjinder Kaur.
On 22 August 2006, Singh was accidentally shot on his leg while on his way to join the national team that was due to leave for the World Cup in two days. The incident left him on a wheel chair for two years. However, Singh recovered and joined the national team and was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2010.
Singh and Harjinder Kaur got married in 2008.
