American television network, ABC, has nixed the fourth season of Priyanka Chopra’s action drama Quantico. The show, which premiered in September 2015, starred Chopra as FBI agent Alex Parrish, making her the first South Asian actress to headline a network show in the US.

The success of Quantico made Chopra a household name in the country and the actress went on sign more Hollywood projects, like the 2017 Baywatch reboot, A Kid Like Jake (2018) and the upcoming Isn’t It Romantic? (2019).

Chopra will next be seen in a domestic project — Salman Khan’s Bharat (2019). She is also slated to host the American web series, If I Could Tell You Just One Thing, in which the actress will travel the world meeting inspirational people.

Quantico wasn’t the only show cancelled. A slew of comedies and dramas, around 17 in total, were given the axe from ABC, FOX and NBC on Friday (11 May).

Designated Survivor which revolved around a US president, played by Kiefer Sutherland and starred Kal Penn, was also cancelled. Penn shared the news on Twitter and reached out to Chopra, stating that they should do a movie together now.

Chopra responded in kind that she was open to the idea.

Even though Quantico will go off air, India will still be represented on American television. Actors Anupam Kher, Suraj Sharma and actor-comedian Vir Das will both be seen on three new shows in 2018-2019.

Kher is starring as a series regular, Dr Anil Kapoor, on NBC’s New Amsterdam, starring Ryan Eggold, while Das is part of the Scott Foley-Lauren Cohan dramedy about an FBI agent (Foley) and CIA operative (Cohan). Das will play Jai Datta who works with Foley and Cohan. Suraj Sharma is one of the actors in the ensemble cast of the CBS dramedy God Friended Me starring Brandon Micheal Hall about an atheist whose life changed when God becomes 'friends' with him on Facebook.
