At a time when films find it difficult to break even after they are released, Rajinikanth's upcoming film, Kaala, has made a profit of Rs50 crore before it hit the screens!
Made at a budget of around Rs75 crore, the film's rights have been bought by Lyca for Rs125 crore.
The film, directed by Pa Ranjith and produced by Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush, will be released on 27 April.
Kaala (black) tries to subvert the ideas of black and white with the hero (Rajinikanth) representing elements thought to be associated with the dark and the villain (Nana Patekar) donning white, that is considered pure and right.
Lyca is also producing 2.0, a maganum opus made at a whopping budget of over Rs450 crore. The film stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar.
