While the news of Irrfan Khan's sickness was first revealed by director Vishal Bhardwaj when announcing the delay in his upcoming film on the female gangsters of Mumbai, the actor's tweet on 5 March came as a shock for many.
Writing a long post, the actor indicated that he has been suffering from a rare disease that has not yet been completely diagnosed.

Considered to be one of the finest actors of his generation, Khan's post led to an outpour of sympathy from across the board. Not only fans, but several prominent names from the industry sent in their wishes for the actor.
Abhishek Bachchan was among the first to send in his sympathy to the actor. "God speed," wrote Bachchan in his tweet.

While the nature of the disease is not known yet, the actor has assured followers on Twitter that he will reveal it after all the clinical tests have concluded.
