Veerey Ki Wedding, which was also released this week, has turned out to be a disaster.
Box office: Anushka Sharma’s Pari earns low in first weekend, shows negative trend
Mumbai - 05 Mar 2018 13:26 IST
Actress Anushka Sharma’s production Pari, where she also plays the main lead, hasn’t managed good numbers in its first weekend. The film earned Rs13.50 crore in the first three days, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.
The film, directed by Prosit Roy, opened at Rs4 crore despite it being a public holiday due to the festival of Holi. Although the film saw some growth the next day by earning Rs4.75 crore, it wasn’t substantial enough.
However, Pari’s Sunday performance came as a blow as the earnings were further down to Rs4.50 crore. This fall in the numbers on Sunday spells bad news for the horror thriller.
As per trade sources, Pari is made at a budget of around Rs30 crore. With such low numbers and a negative trend, the film stands little chance of making a profit.
Sharma's last production Phillauri (2017), which was a flop, earned more than Pari in the first weekend at Rs14.65 crore.
The week also saw the release of Ashu Trikha’s Veerey Ki Wedding, which stars Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda and Jimmy Shergill. The film has turned out to be washout as it made barely Rs2.20 crore in the first weekend.
