Baaghi 2, starring Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani, had an imppressive opening at the Indian box office yesterday (30 March). The Ahmed Khan directorial has earned as much as Rs25 crore on its first day, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The film has recorded the highest opening for 2018, surpassing Padmaavat’s first-day earnings of Rs18.21 crore.
Going by the positive pre-release buzz around the film, there was no doubt that Baaghi 2 will see a positive opening. However, not many would have expected the number to reach Rs25 crore, especially with largely negative reviews post release.
It seems Shroff’s popularity and the commercial factors of the film have helped.
In the weekend (today and tomorrow), the film is expected to earn more than what it did on the first day. If this happens, Shroff might as well become another young star in Hindi film industry to reckon with.
As per trade sources, Baaghi 2, the second film in the Baaghi franchise, is made at a budget around Rs60 to Rs70 crore. The number might seem small, but is big for a film that has no major stars. However, with the kind of opening the film has received, the earnings are expected to cross this sum soon enough.
It seems Tiger Shroff is all set enter the Rs100 crore category.
