Producer-director Gautham Menon has tendered an apology on his Facebook page to his Tamil film Naragasooran (2018) director, Karthick Naren, after asking the young director to 'grow a pair' as a response to a tweet.

Menon had sent out a disguised taunt to Naren, after the latter accused Menon of 'butchering' his film. Menon has now apologised via a long Facebook post saying his tweet was 'a reaction to the phone calls, and unnecessary attention to the film.'

On Wednesday (28 March), Naren took to Twitter to confirm that not all is well with Menon's Ondraga production house and the film, Naragasooran.

'Sometimes a misplaced trust may kill you. People should think twice before taking it for a ride. The last thing you want to see is your passion getting butchered from all the directions for a mistake you did not commit,' Naren wrote.

To which Menon responded with a disguised jibe, which did not go unnoticed. Asking the young director to 'grow a pair', Menon pointed out an example of others working towards their passion, and shared a video of the new Indian Premier League team, Chennai Super Kings.

Naren responded to the director clarifying that while the venture was supposed to be a collaboration, he is now forced to 'invest in our own'. He added, 'Please don't do this to any other young filmmaker sir. It hurts!'

In an interview with sify.com on Wednesday, Naren clarified, "Though Gautham sir’s Ondraga banner is associated with Naragasooran on paper, he hasn’t invested anything into our project. What really hurt me is that he has gone ahead and borrowed money pledging my film (Naragasooran) and invested in his own films — Dhruva Natchathiram and Enai Noki Paayum Thota. The main issue now is that Gautham sir has to settle the remuneration of Arvind Swamy sir and other actors."

Menon's tweet to 'grow a pair' even earned a rebuke from the usually reticent Arvind Swamy. The actor slammed Menon on Twitter by writing 'Yes, we can all grow a few things'.

Menon has reportedly grown notorious for his tendency to delay projects. The producer-director already has two massive films, Dhruva Natchathiram (starring Vikram) and Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta (starring Dhanush) still under production.

However, the rebuke from Swamy and Naren has led to a turnaround, and Menon tendered an apology through a Facebook post. Apologising to Naren for his reaction, Menon added a promise that Naragasooran will see a release soon. He wrote 'We have a plan for completion of work and release of the film. In a few days all issues will be sorted out. And we have never held back Karthick from beginning work on his next film. He is free to do so and has begun work too.'

Menon even clarified on the issues with his actor saying, 'Arvind Swamy who's refused to dub till his entire payment is made will dub once we do the needful very soon and then it's only a release date issue as every other aspect of filming and postproduction is done.'

The producer-director concluded by saying, 'This misunderstanding has been sorted out between Karthick and me and we are working towards making this film see the light of the day or the darkness of a movie hall very soon.'
