The first trailer of Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds showed Ishaan Khatter's character Amir who was orphaned at a young age. He turns to a life of crime and tries his hand at drug dealing. However, he quickly discovers he's in over his head when he hides an important package and his sister Tara (Malavika Mohanan) is hauled away by the police.

The second trailer, released today, unveils more layers to the complex story by Majidi Majidi and his screenwriter Mehran Kashani. A local drug lord, Akshi, played by filmmaker Goutam Ghose, has his eye on Tara and when he is found assaulted, it is Tara who is the prime suspect. As Amir says in the opening of the trailer, it is just the two of them.

Amir tries to take his fury out at Akshi who lies in an hospital, but can't avoid Akshi's mother and two daughters who somehow become his responsibility. Slowly, as he tries his best to find a way to get Tara out from prison, he comes care for the young girls. He is torn between hating them and who they represent and his duty to his sister who has raised him.

Majidi's film, stunningly shot by Anil Mehta, has a mix of Iranian and Indian talent. The film has been edited by Hassan Hassandost, while the Hindi dialogues have been written by Vishal Bhardwaj. Oscar winner AR Rahman has composed the score for the film.

Beyond The Clouds had its world premiere at the 48th International Film Festival of India in 2017 and is due to be released on 20 April 2018. The film will go up against Hansal Mehta's Omertà, Sudhir Mishra's Daas Dev and Akarsh Khurana's High Jack. Artistes GV Sharada, Dhwani Rajesh, Amruta Santosh Thakur, Shivam Pujari are also part of the film's ensemble cast.
