Veteran Hindi cinema actress Deepti Naval does limited work now. Naval, who earned her stripes through parallel cinema, has welcomed the change that today's mainstream actors, too, are taking up releveant subjects.

"With the kind of subjects being explored these days, both are getting to do what they want. It’s not art house cinema anymore. It’s interesting cinema which is presented commercially and that’s what I like about it," Naval told DNA newspaper.

She was all praise for superstar Akshay Kumar for taking up socially relevant subjects. Naval had loved Akshay's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017).

“That was the last movie I saw in the theatre and I loved it! Now, I want to watch Pad Man. I think Akshay is doing great work — something which is so necessary — in his own commercial way. Hats off to him for picking these subjects! I love the fact that he’s choosing to tell such stories, pointing a finger at them and saying, ‘Look, here is a problem, let’s tackle it’. I like that kind of spirit,” she added.

Naval was last seen in a small role in the Australian film, Lion (2017). She will be seen next in The Boy With The Topknot, based on the memories of British journalist Sathnam Sanghera. She is also currently gearing up for her play, Ek Mulaqat.
