Veteran Hindi film actress files rape case against Mumbai businessman


Reportedly, the accused was arrested on Thursday (22 March) night under Sections 376, 420, 406, 465, 467, 468, 469, 471 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

A veteran Hindi film actress has filed a rape case against businessman at Mumbai’s Juhu police station. The accused, based in Mumbai, was arrested on Thursday (22 March) night under Sections 376, 420, 406, 465, 467, 468, 469, 471 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. He will be produced in court today (23 March).

ANI, a news agency, has reported that the case has been transferred to crime branch and an investigation is underway.

According to a report in Mirror Now, a news channel, the 38-year-old accused had allegedly demanded jewellery worth more than Rs15 crore from the actress. When she refused, he forged papers and fraudulently transfered five of the actress's properties in his name. Later, he allegedly raped her and made fake documents to prove their marriage.

The actress had filed a case of molestation and stalking against the same man on 30 January.

According to the police, the accused and the victim have known each other for years and after their relationship failed, the actress decided to distance herself from him. However, the businessman continued to stalk her in various ways and she was compelled to take legal action against him.

The actress was a star in Hindi cinema in the 1970s and was seen opposite some popular actors of the time like Dev Anand, Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, among others.
