The makers are citing 'wider release' as the reason, but the film will find itself sandwiched between Hansal Mehta's Omertà and Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds.
Sudhir Mishra's Daas Dev postponed again, to be released on 20 April
Mumbai - 21 Mar 2018 17:25 IST
Sudhir Mishra's upcoming venture Daas Dev seems to be on a never-ending roll down the calendar. The film, which was initially scheduled to be released on 9 February, was postponed to 16 February, then again to 23 March, will now be released 20 April in order to avail a wider release. Produced by Sanjeev Kumar of Saptarishi Cinevision, the film will now be taken up by Shringar Films to handle the pan-India distribution.
Daas Dev is a political romance that offers an upgrade on the iconic Devdas story. With Rahul Bhat, Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chadha in the leading roles, the film has Saurabh Shukla playing the antagonist.
Its initial release date was shifted owing to the arrival of the blockbuster Padmaavat (2018) in February.
Speaking about the film, Mishra said, "I have shaped the story the way I envisaged it. My part as a director is to put all my energies into the creative process of making the movie and doing justice to the script. As far as business decisions, strategies and release dates are concerned, Shringar Films have a bigger vision for the movie and we know we are in great hands. We are excited to bring Daas Dev to a larger audience."
