Actor-turned-producer Prasenjit Chatterjee had expressed his wish to launch new directors at an award show, saying, “Now, one of my primary agenda is to launch new directors.” As promised, Chatterjee’s nIdeas Creations and Productions is producing Abhishek Saha’s debut film Uronchondi.

This is reportedly the first Bengali road film. Amartya Ray, who will be seen palying a lorry driver in the film, recently posted the photo of a lorry on his Twitter handle. The lorry, it seems, will be at the centre of the plot.

Before venturing into films, Saha has worked in the advertising industry.

Uronchondi will follow the journey of three women from three generations in their quest for freedom. Veteran actress Chitra Sen, Rajnandini Pal and Sudipta Chakraborty, who is the wife of the director, are expected to to play the three protagonists.

To get rid of their monotonous lifestyle, the protagonists leave on a road trip in a lorry. The sequences of the road trip will be shot at Purulia-Kolkata route.

The script of the film has been written by Sudip Das and the music will be composed by Debajyoti Mishra. The shooting of the film began on 18 February.

When asked whether it was not a risk to choose an unconventional theme for his first film, Saha replied, “There is risk in everything. One needs to take chance. I used to travel a lot. I spent 20 years of my life alone. The experiences have given me the inspiration to write the story.”
