National award winning filmmaker Churni Ganguly’s upcoming film Tarikh is a story on friendships and ideologies. The film features Saswata Chatterjee, Ritwik Chakraborty and Raima Sen in the lead roles.
Among the three protagonists of the film, one is an idealist, another a realist and the third is a conformist. The plot focuses on each of the character’s struggle of sticking to their own ideologies in the current age of social media.
According to the director, the plot will explore friendships among different age groups, relatives and family members. “The story is about various shades of human psychology. It is a slice of life story,” Churni told tabloid Ebela.
Ganguly reportedly got in touch with the producer of the film, Suparnakanti Karati, during the post-production of her husband and filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly’s film, Bisorjon. Previously, Churni had Srijit Mukherjee, Abir Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta in her mind as the protagonists.
Churni also said, “I think I have matured a lot as a screenwriter since my first venture. Though I have other scripts ready, I think this is the right time to tell the story of Tarikh."
For the promotion of the film, Churni has planned to open Facebook profiles with the names of the lead characters from the film. She is hopeful that this strategy will help the audience to connect with the film.
