The Lok Sabha elections are due to be held next year and the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun its preparations. As part of their 'Contact for Support' campaign BJP president Amit Shah was scheduled to meet veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, buisnessman Ratan Tata and actress Madhuri Dixit Nene to present them with a book highlighting the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government.

However, Mangeshkar could not meet Shah as she is suffering from food poisoning. Shah was to meet Mangeshkar at her residence.

Aaj BJP ki adhyaksha mananeey @AmitShah ji se meri mulaqaat honewali thi parantu mujhe food poisoning hone ki wajah se maine unse telephone pe baat karke milne mein asamarthta vyakt ki aur agli baar jab bhi wo Mumbai aayenge tab unse milne ka nivedan kiya [I was to meet BJP president Amit Shah today but I fell sick with food poisoning. I personally called him to express my inability to meet him and have assured him that we will meet next time when he is in Mumbai]," Mangeshkar tweeted.

We contacted Mangeshkar's publicist who assured that it's a minor illness and the veteran singer is expected to recover soon. The BJP president has presented the book to Dixit Nene and Tata.
