The much-anticipated small screen adaptation of Vikram Chandra's novel Sacred Games will hit Netflix in a month. The first full trailer of the eight-part series, released today (6 June), sets up the complicated but deadly chase between police officer Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and crime boss Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).
The trailer opens with a call to Singh from Gaitonde informing him that he has 25 days to save his city, Mumbai. As Singh tries to find out why and who has called him, the stakes get higher and he uncovers hidden secrets leading back to his own family.
"There's no place for an honest man in this city, in this country," Singh notes before he gets suspended.
The trailer introduces the characters of Radhika Apte, Neeraj Kabi, and newcomer Elnaaz Norouzi who may or may not be involved with the overall quest that is being played out between Singh and Gaitonde.
Sacred Games, directed by filmmakers Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, will premiere worldwide on Netflix on 6 July.
