The collections of director Remo D’Souza’s Race 3 continued to fall in the weekdays. Its lowest collection so far came yesterday when it made Rs6.25 crore, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.
The film, starring Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem, earned an impressive Rs100.94 crore in its first weekend despite getting negative reviews and word of mouth publicity. The numbers (Rs14 crore) were impressive on Monday as well as it followed a long Eid holiday weekend. It was downhill from there, as the collections went into single digits.
As per trade sources, Race 3 is made at a budget of around Rs110 crore. The film’s total collection right now is Rs138.69 crore.
This week no new Hindi films will be out in the theatres, which will give Race 3 a chance to earn more in its second weekend. The real challenge would be to earn respectable numbers from Monday onwards. Going by the current trend, the chances look fairly dim.
Next Friday will see director Rajkumar Hirani’s much-awaited Sanju hitting the theatre screens. The buzz for the biopic Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt, is likely to put brakes on Race 3's journey.
