Actor Vijay's upcoming film with director AR Murugadoss will be titled Sarkar.

The first look and the title of the film, which was until now being referred to as Thalapathy62, were officially launched on Sun Television Network last night (21 June) to mark actor Vijay's birthday today (22 June). The film is being produced by Sun Pictures.

Director Murugadoss had earlier confirmed that the film will hit the screens on Diwali this year. The two posters released yesterday have Vijay smoking a cigar. This has not gone down well with a few from the audience. According to them, the actor has gone back on his promise of not smoking in his films.

In 2007, former union minister of health and family welfare Anbumani Ramadoss had, during a symposium, requested the actor to not have scenes of him smoking and comsuming alcohol in films. "We are staging a protest against having drinking and smoking scenes in films. After our protest, Rajinikanth has stopped acting in scenes that show him smoking. Similarly, it would be great if Vijay too stops acting in scenes that show him smoking," the minister had said.

Vijay had accepted this request and said in an interview, "I welcome this suggestion of Dr Anbumani Ramadoss. His protest against drinking and smoking is a healthy one and therefore, accepting his request, I will not henceforth act in smoking or drinking scenes."

However, the fact that the actor appears to be holding a cigar in his hand in his upcoming film has made a small section of people believe that the actor has broken his promise. This is the second time the actor is seen with a cigar. He had earlier given a similar pose in a 2012 film Thuppakki.
