Soukarya Ghosal’s Rainbow Jelly has successfully completed four weeks and is going to be screened at Nandan 1 in Kolkata this Friday (22 June) onwards. Ghosal reckons that the film will be able to reach a wider audience with the single screen shows in Nandan 1.

Though Rainbow Jelly had limited screenings in a handful of multiplexes around the city in the past weeks, the majority of them were houseful shows. The film was also screened at the Habitat Film Festival in Delhi, Bengaluru Bengali Film Festival and will be screened at the Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival as well. The film also had a houseful show in the Bengaluru Bengali Film Festival.

“I think it is a big step for an independent film to complete four weeks, that too amidst films such as Jurrasic World: Fallen Kingdom, Race 3, Uma and Haami. For me Rainbow Jelly is going to have a re-release in Nandan. We are aware of the fact that Nandan doesn’t really run films which don’t do much business. Therefore, I think, the screenings in the prestigious Nandan will help this small budget film reap more commercial success, henceforth,” said Ghosal.

Rainbow Jelly review: Original story and brave casting makes this film worth a watch

Rainbow Jelly, a fairy tale story on food fantasy, has so far appealed to cinema lovers of Kolkata a great deal. The film features special child Mahabrata Basu, whose commendable performance has intrigued audience from the outskirts to come and watch the film in Kolkata. Ghosal and his team did not do a lot of media publicity prior to the release; however, the audience themselves stepped up to promote the film, which carries an essence of eastern culture and eternal dreams, through social media and various other mediums.
