Actor Akshay Kumar is so mesmerized by the Marathi film Chumbak that he has decided to become its presenter. Directed by Sandeep Modi, the film features lyricist Swanand Kirkire in the lead along with Sahil Jadhav and Sangram Desai.

Sharing the news in a video on his Twitter page, Akshay said, “Few days back I saw a Marathi film. It just refuses to leave my mind. It was an honest film. It made me laugh and cry. The film’s story and its characters have stayed etched in my mind. I have seen so many films but why only this one has stayed in my mind? I don’t have an answer to that. No matter what I am doing, thoughts about this film keep coming.”

He added, “That’s why I have also decided to share this film with you on 27 July. I am pretty sure you would like this film. I hope you guys enjoy it. The film is Chumbak and I am presenting it.” He will present the film under his banner Cape Of Good Films.

Chumbak sees Kirkire play the character of a mentally challenged person, Prasanna Thombare, who is in his 40s. The film is a journey of self-discovery he takes along with a teenager Balu (Jadhav).

Kirkire will also be seen in another challenging role in Mahesh Manjrekar’s’ Bhai: Vyakti Ki Valli? He will be seen playing the character of the late legendary classical singer Pandit Kumar Gandharva.

Akshay has previously produced two Marathi films, Antar (2013) and 72 Miles (2013).
