It has been rumoured for a while that Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has given Kangana Ranaut a script to read.

Tiwari is also working with Alia Bhatt. So, the murmur was that Tiwari may be planning to cast the two stars together in the same film.

While there is no clarity on the dual casting yet, the Mid-Day newspaper has now reported that Ranaut will be playing the role of a kabaddi player in Iyer Tiwari's next.

According to the tabloid report, Ranaut will undergo a 15-day preparation for the role in August, and the filmmaker is looking for a professional kabaddi coach to train her. The film is expected to go on the floors in October.

The Queen (2014) actress is currently shooting for Mental Hai Kya in London. Upon her return in July, Ranaut will finish some patchwork for Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi before beginning her prepartion for the sports-based film in August.

Ranaut’s social media team confirmed that the actress will be doing the film.

"Ashwiny is screening national-level kabaddi champions' profiles to find the one who can handhold Kangana Ranaut through the sport. While Kangana has already started practising yoga to be able to master holding her breath, the prep will see her learning different kinds of holds and kicks,” tweeted the actress's team.

While this will be a first sports-based film for Ranaut, the actress did plays a sportswoman in Aanand L Rai's Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015).
