Singer Mika Singh filed a complaint of theft with the Oshiwara police station on Sunday (29 July), claiming that cash worth Rs1 lakh and jewellery worth Rs3 lakh were stolen from his residence in Oshiwara, Mumbai.

The robbery took place around 3pm to 4pm on Sunday (29 July) when the singer was not present at his house.

The prime suspect in the theft is one Ankit Vasan, 27, one of Singh's associates who reportedly organised his projects and live shows. Vasan has worked with the singer for over a decade now.

A report in Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid, quoted a police officer as saying, "His manager has informed us that they were unable to trace Ankit’s whereabouts following the theft on Sunday evening.”

A complaint has been filed under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of Indian penal code.

Breakingboom.com, a news website, reported that Vasan was the only person who was seen entering the house during the time of theft.

The website quoted senior police inspector Shailesh Pasalwar as saying, "Since Vasan is known to the security guards, he was never stopped from enterting and exiting the premises."
