Well-known Marathi actor Sandeep Kulkarni will be back on the big screen after a gap of five years with the film Krutant. Directed by debutant Datta Mohan Bhandare, the film is the first venture for Rain Rose Film Production. It will be released on 24 August.
Kulkarni announced the film by sharing its first poster on his Facebook page. The actor is seen with long hair for the first time. He sports a suit jacket and a stick, giving the impression that he plays some sort of wanderer in the film.
Krutant also stars Suyog Gorhe. He was appreciated for his role of a Bihari migrant in last year’s Ashok Saraf-starrer Shentimental (2017). The rest of the cast will be revealed later.
Kulkarni was last seen in Marathi cinema in Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar’s Premsutra (2013). He played a cameo in the same year in the blockbuster Duniyadari (2013). His last released film was Nikkhil Advani’s D-Day (2013).
The actor is known for his character of common man Madhav Apte in Nishikant Kamat’s iconic film Dombivli Fast (2005). Kulkarni acted in Mahendra Teredesai’s Dombivli Return (2014), but the film is yet to be released theatrically. Contrary to popular perception, the film is not connected to Dombivli Fast.
Kulkarni's directorial debut Satyashodhak is also in the making. It’s a biopic on social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule where he will play the lead character.
