Eros Interntaional has announced that its production Manmarziyaan will be released on 21 September. The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and features Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. Earlier, the producers had announced a tentative release date of 7 September.

July-December preview: Films to look out for in second half of 2018

A few days ago, the makers of Batti Gul Meter Chalu had announced that the film will hit the screens on 14 September. However, they anounced recently that the release has been postponed to 21 September. The change comes as Kajol's Helicopter Eela will be released on 14 September and Rohit Jugraj's Arjun Patiala is set to hit the screens on 13 September. If released on 14 September, Batti Gul Meter Chalu would have had to compete with both these films at the box office.

On 7 September, JP Dutta's Paltan and Dharma Productions' Drive will be out.

According to an industry insider, competition is not the reason for shifting the release date. "7 September was only a tentative date announced by Eros International. There are a couple of films releasing on 21st so competition is not the reason for them to shift it to 21 September. They believe it is their best date. I believe a popular Hollywood horror [franchise] film is lined up for a 7 September release in India."

The Nun, the fifth film in The Conjuring franchise, is slated to be released on 7 September.

In the last week, on 28 September Yash Raj Films' Sui Dhaaga, featuring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma will be released.
