Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aaryan to play the lead in Luka Chuppi

After playing the commitment-phobic guy with a vehement hatred for the woman ilk, Kartik Aryan is set to romance Kriti Sanon in Dinesh Vijan's upcoming production, Luka Chuppi. The film wlll mark the directorial debut of Laxman Utekar, and will be released in March 2019. The makers made an announcement about the film, tagging it as a 'desi rom-com'. 

With Aaryan's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018) proving his standings at the box office, and Sanon's Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) establishing her credentials, the two are set to form a new and unique pairing on screen. 

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, producer Vijan said the movie is a love story with a lot of small town humour. In a quote to the daily, the producer remarked, "While Kartik is the quintessential good boy every girl wants to take home to mamma, Kriti represents today’s youth who advocate gender equality and have their own ideology." 

Reports suggest that Aaryan is likely to play a reporter of a local TV channel in Mathura. As for Sanon, this will be her second collaboration with Maddock Films. The actress also has Arjun Patiala (2018), where she plays the lead opposite Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Sharma in production. 

The film will be directed by Laxman Utekar, who has been Director of Photography (DoP), recently for the Irrfan Khan-Saba Qamar starrer, Hindi Medium (2017). Utekar has also directed two Marathi films, Tapaal (2014) and Lalbaugchi Rani (2016). Luka Chuppi will be his directorial debut. 

The film is scheduled to be released in March 2019.
