Her first film, Kedarnath (2018), was not yet complete when Sara Ali Khan was picked by Rohit Shetty for Simmba (2018) opposite Ranveer Singh.

Kedarnath is still to be released, but the young woman has now been offered her third film, where she will share screen space with her father, Saif Ali Khan.

The project is being helmed by Filmistaan (2014) director Nitin Kakkar.

“It is true that I am doing a film with Saif Ali Khan and Sara Ali Khan, but it is too early to say more than that," Kakkar told the Indian Express newspaper. "I narrated the story to both and they seemed to like it. We are now working on their dates.”

As soon as the dates are finalized, shooting will begin, he said. "We are doing all the paperwork that needs to be completed before the film goes on the floors," the director said. "We haven’t zeroed in on a title yet, but we have a few ideas. As soon as we work out Saif and Sara’s dates and finalize the title, we shall be able to announce the film.”

Curiously, despite the rampant nepotism in Hindi cinema, it is not often that a parent features in a film starring an offspring. Dharmendra acted with his sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, in the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise. He also acted with daughter Esha Deol in Tell Me O Kkhuda (2011), directed by his wife Hema MaliniRishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh shared screen space with son Ranbir Kapoor in Besharam (2013). Earlier this year, Soni Razdan played mother to real-life daughter Alia Bhatt in Raazi (2018).
