The music of Mainak Bhaumik upcoming film Happy Pill was launched in Kolkata on Tuesday (10 July) by music company Amara Muzik. The director, actors Ritwick Chakraborty and Mir Afsar Ali, actresses Parno Mittra and Sohini Sarkar, music composer Savvy Gupta, vocalists Rupam Islam and Anupam Roy were present at the event.

“Happy Pill has been a very special project for me. Earlier the audience liked the album of Bibaho Diaries and I think the songs from Happy Pill are the continuation of that album. The basic essence of the songs is melody which has always been a very important element in all of the songs in Mainak’s films. Also, we have incorporated a bit of alternative rock in the songs of Happy Pill,” Gupta said.

The film has four songs — 'Bhalo Lege Jaay' sung by Madhubanti Bagchi, 'Dhulo Jhere Tai' sung by Rupam Islam, 'Thak Pashe Priyotoma' sung by Anupam Roy and a second version of the same song rendered by Arnab Dutta. The lyrics of the songs have been penned by Dipangshu Acharya.

“I am working with Mainak after a long time. Working with him has always been a fruitful experience for me. I liked the composition by Savvy and am feeling even better after singing the song. I hope that the song reaches a wider audience. A good song needs to be promoted and I hope that through playing the song in various mediums will get it a large group of listeners,” singer Islam said.

"I really want Happy Pill to do well. These days we have lost our peace of mind and the happiness from our lives but we must not forget that the peace and happiness is within ourselves, we only need to discover them. Happy Pill is a film that will help us in that discovery,” actress Sarkar added.

Happy Pill is scheduled to hit the screens on 27 July.
