The third weekend figures will determine if Sanju will become Rajkumar Hirani’s highest grosser, a record currently held by PK (2014) at Rs337.72 crore.
Box office: Sanju sees a fall on second Monday, still stands pretty at Rs271 crore

Director Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju (2018) earned Rs61.75 in its second weekend, including Rs28 crore on Sunday (8 July). However, the fall for the biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt, starring Ranbir Kapoor, was more than expected yesterday as the film made Rs9.25 crore.
However, this isn’t a sign of worry by any means because the film’s grand total stands at Rs271.08 crore. With its estimated budget being Rs100 crore, Sanju is already sailing in profits.
Despite the big fall, the film still has a clear chance of entering the rare Rs300-crore club. The third weekend figures will determine if Sanju will become Hirani’s highest grosser, a record currently held by PK (2014) at Rs337.72 crore.
The record for the highest Hindi grosser is held by Dangal (2016) at Rs374.53 crore.
The good news for Sanju is that no big Hindi film will be released this week. Soorma, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu is slated to hit the theatres on 13 July. The next major film to be released is Dhadak on 20 July.
