While he rebuffed news of doing a film on an amputee, the filmmaker assure Pad Man will be released on 25 January.
Balki denies signing Kangana Ranaut, Amitabh Bachchan for a film

Most producers and filmmakers hesitate to reveal any information on their projects before any official announcement is made. This, though, doesn’t stop the media from churning up speculative stories. Earlier today, MidDay.com carried a report stating that filmmaker R Balki has signed Amitabh Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut for his next film.
The report also stated that Ranaut was first to do a biopic on Arunima Sinha, the first Indian amputee to scale Mount Everest, but since that project hasn't started, Ranaut agreed to Balki's film, where she will play an amputee and Bachchan will be seen as her mentor.
Cinestaan.com contacted Balki to confirm the news, and the filmmaker replied with a firm negative. “Wrong false news,” Balki said via a text message.
We asked the Pad Man director whether his next will feature the duo, though not forthcoming, he rebuffed the news, “No, no, I don’t know anything at all. This is all news. Have no clue.” Balki even rubbished claims that his project is similar to the Arunima biopic, "That is even more wrong."
While one needs to take Balki's word on the developments, or the lack of it, it is common for filmmakers to keep things under wraps till an official announcement is made. Of the four films he has directed, Bachchan has featured in three — Cheeni Kum (2007) , Paa (2009) and Shamitabh (2015).
Coming to the release date of Pad Man, yesterday, 8 January, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat was going to clash with Balki's film on 25 January. Balki was asked if the release date of Pad Man would be shifted to make way for Padmavat. “Pad Man will come on 25th January whatever happens,” he replied.
