Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial Hindi film Padmavati, which stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, will be released on 25 January as Padmavat.

"It will release as Padmavat on 25 January. The film has got U/A certificate," sources at Viacom18 Motion Pictures told IANS.

Padmavati — now Padmavat — was earlier slated for release on 1 December but got stuck after the Karni Sena claimed it distorted historical facts related to the Rajput community.

Interestingly, Akshay Kumar-starrer Pad Man will also be released on 25 January.

The big clash has forced the makers of Aiyaary to postpone the release date to 9 February. Aiyaary is directed by Neeraj Pandey and features Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee.

Jayantilal Gada, producer of Aiyaary, released a statement saying that as a mark of respect for 'our friend from Gujarat, Sanjay Leela Bhansali ji', the production house PEN and also the film industry, dates of two films had been shifted — Gujjubhai Most Wanted to 23 February and Aiyaary to 9 February.
