The film was earlier scheduled to be released in December 2017, before the delay in Jagga Jasoos (2017) pushed it into January 2018. Now, it seems the film will make it to screens in the middle of 2018.

A day after news broke of the Rajkumar Hirani directed biopic on Sanjay Dutt being postponed, the makers of the film have made it official that the film will be released on 29 June, instead of the earlier announced 30 March. The film will clash with another biopic, Shaad Ali's Soorma, based on the life of hockey player Sandeep Singh.
The news of the Dutt biopic, starring Ranbir Kapoor, being delayed came to the fore when the producers of the film, Fox Star Studios, announced that their other project — Baaghi 2, starring Tiger Shroff — will hit the screens on 30 March.
"There is no way Fox Star Studios is going to release two of their big films on the same day. In all likelihood, the Sanjay Dutt biopic is now delayed," a trade analyst told Cinestaan.com.
However, Fox Star Studios, today, tweeted the final date for the Dutt bopic.

The shoot for the yet untitled film, began in January 2017, with the last schedule of the film taking place in Cape Town, South Africa in December. In fact, Kapoor has already begun prepping for his next, Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra, with Alia Bhatt.
With Hirani and Kapoor coming together for the first time, the biopic is one of the most awaited films of the year. It has already gathered quite a buzz on social media for Kapoor's physical transofrmation to play the controversial Dutt. The film also has a supporting cast with Manisha Koirala playing Nargis Dutt, Paresh Rawal playing Sunil Dutt, and Dia Mirza and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles.
Sanjay Dutt is also speculated to make an appearance in the film, through videos shot by Hirani during his prison release.
The film was earlier scheduled to be released in December 2017, before the delays of Kapoor's Jagga Jasoos (2017) pushed it further into January 2018. Now, it seems the film will make it to screens in the middle of 2018.
