In a series of tweets, actor-producer Riteish Deshmukh recalled his first meeting with wife Genelia D’Souza and his entry in Hindi films. His debut film, Tujhe Meri Kasam, released on 3 January 2003 and completes 15 years today.

"Debut film: Life changed. Architect became an actor. Costar @Geneliad become my baiko," Deshmukh wrote. He holds a degree from the Kamla Raheja College of Architecture in Mumbai.

He went on to thank director Vijaya Bhaskar and producer Ramoji Rao for casting him in the film and revealed that cinematographer Kabir Lal recommended him for the role.

Deshmukh met his future wife, Genelia, on the sets of Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003). He said that she didn’t speak to him for the first two days of the shoot as Riteish's father was Vilasrao Deshmukh, then the chief minister on Maharashtra. Apparently the first thing Genelia asked him was, "Where is your security?' To which Riteish replied, "I don't have any."

Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003) performed well above average at the box office and duo were given more opportunities to work together in films like Masti (2004) and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2012). Riteish and Genelia tied the knot on 3 February 2012. They have two sons, Riaan and Rahyl.
