This will be the third film by Pandey to be remade for the southern audience.
After A Wednesday and Special 26, Neeraj Pandey's Baby to be remade in Tamil
Mumbai - 27 Jan 2018 18:00 IST
Director Neeraj Pandey looks to be on a roll to break the trend of south Indian films being remade in Hindi, by having his films remade in Tamil. After the success of the Suriya-starrer Thaana Serndha Koottam (2018), which was a remake of Special 26 (2013), reports suggest the director will see his Baby (2015) made into a Tamil film.
The film will reportedly be helmed by director I Ahmed, and star Jayam Ravi in the lead role. Ahmed has already directed Manithan (2016), a remake of Jolly LLB (2013).
Firstpost.com quoted a source as saying, "Talks are on with Jayam Ravi, who is busy shooting for the cop thriller Adanga Maru. Once Ahmed makes the necessary changes to the original script of Baby to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience, the shoot will begin."
The film might see Ravi take on the role of the RAW agent, played by Akshay Kumar in the Hindi film. It is unknown if Taapsee Pannu, who made an appearance in Baby, will be seen in the Tamil remake as well.
The actor also has the period drama, Sanghamitra, which will go on the floors by April this year.
The Tamil remake of Pandey's Baby is expected to go on the floors by the end of the year.
