Box office: Big earnings continue as Tiger Zinda Hai collects over Rs270 crore


The Salman Khan-starrer is most likely to cross the magic figure of Rs300 crore.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tiger Zinda Hai continued its phenomenal run at the box office in its second extended weekend too. The Salman Khan-starrer has not only become the highest grosser of 2017, but is also expected to cross the magic figure of Rs300 crore.

Tiger Zinda Hai review: Hero lives on, but logic dies

The film, a sequel to Ek Tha Tiger (2012), earned a mammoth Rs48.25 crore in the second weekend till Sunday, which took its grand total to Rs254.29 crore. The film was expected to collect a similar amount yesterday, the first day of the new year. It made Rs17 crore on the day, which takes its current grand total to Rs271.54 crore.

As per trade sources, Tiger Zinda Hai is Yash Raj Films’ most expensive film till date with a budget of Rs140 crore. Hence, it was important for the film to earn over Rs250 crore to be declared a hit. As mentioned before, the film is expected to rake in Rs300 crore.

Khan's two biggest grossers till date are Bajrangi Bhaaijaan (2015) and Sultan (2016) which made Rs315.49 crore and Rs300.67 crore, respectively.
