Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has said he is ready to contest Assembly polls, even if they are announced in the next six months.
The actor made this statement while he was heading to the MGR Janaki College of Arts and Science, which is a part of Sathya Studio, to inaugurate the shoot of Kizhakku Africavil Raji.
Media persons gathered around the actor while he was leaving his residence and asked him whether he would contest in the Assembly polls if they were held within the next six months. The actor replied, "Definitely."
Rajinikanth had announced his entry into politics on 31 December and said his party would contest in all 234 constituencies in the upcoming Assembly elections. Since the election is scheduled to take place in 2021, it was assumed the actor needed the time to build his party.
Commenting on Kamal Haasan entering politics, Rajinikanth said he had not expected it, but wished him well.
When asked if both the actors would form an alliance, Rajinikath said it would be premature to say that and added,"Only time will tell."
Interestingly, Haasan and Rajinikanth jointly inaugurated Kizhakku Africavil Raji. While the former switched the camera on, the latter gave the clap for the first shot.
The film is a special project as it was supposed to be produced by late chief minister MG Ramachandran, popularly known as MGR, who had also planned to act in it.
The actor-producer-politician had announced the film soon after the success of his 1973 film Ulagam Sutrum Valiban. However, the project never took off.
Now, the film is being made in animation by the chancellor of Vels University, Isari Ganesh and Ramachandran's image will be recreated to play the lead. The film is being directed by Arul Moorthy who has also penned the story and the script of the film.
