After Richa Chadha, Saif Ali Khan and R Madhavan, it is Nimrat Kaur turning to the format of web-series to make a mark. Kaur, in particular, is set to play a female commando trying to break into the last male bastion in the Alt Balaji series, The Test Case.
The series, which is set to be launched on the digital platform of Balaji Productions on 26 January, revolves around the life of a female army officer, Shikha Sharma, who is drafted as a test case to be the first army commando. The trailer includes the fabulous presence of several actors including Kaur, Atul Kulkarni, Juhi Chawla and Rahul Dev.
As Shikha Sharma battles inherent sexism, the challenges of the commando training, and the struggle of being the only woman in the group, there is a conspiracy brewing against her as well. The trailer is sharp, and well cut to describe the arduous journey of Kaur's fighting commando. While Kulkarni plays the commanding officer who detests the idea, Chawla plays the defense minister who comes up with the idea of women in the commando battallions as well.
Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the series was initially expected to launch on the platform in April 2017. The series has been long delayed, and will arrive on 26 January, in time for the Republic Day celebrations.
