Kaalakaandi song: Saif Ali Khan unleashes the crazy in title track

In keeping with its devil-may-care spirit, the title song is an apt reflection of the madness that Saif  Ali Khan and the lead characters subject themselves to.

Kaalakaandi is not a conventional film, so why should its music be like that? The 'Swagpur Ka Chaudhary' track was testimony to that and now producer Cinestaan Film Company has released the title track a couple of days before the film hits the theatres.

In keeping with its devil-may-care spirit, the title song is an apt reflection of the madness that Saif Ali Khan and the lead characters subject themselves to.

So, be it the dying Rileen (Saif Ali Khan) or Sobhita Dhulipala planting kisses on strangers in front of her boyfriend, Kaalakaandi reflects a no holds barred attitude. Much of the visuals from the song were used in the trailer, but some of the dialogues will leave you rolling on the floor laughing.

The first one comes when a friend asks Rileen whether he would dance at the wedding they're at. Rileen’s replies, “Kyun, is this a wedding or Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa? Judge kaun hai? Madhuri Dixit?" Another hilarious scene is when Khan interacts with a transgender.

Fun-filled conversations and goofy visuals apart, the song clicks for its wacky lyrics. Who’d think the woman who gave us soulful romantic numbers in Phillauri (2017), could also come up with a 'Kaalakaandi'. That's Anvita Dutt for you. Dutt’s music director from Phillauri Shashwat Sachdev doubles up as the singer of 'Kaalakaandi'. Sachdev has Vivek Hariharan for company.

Sachdev has given a rollicking score with a tinge of jazz. The only time the song stumbles is when Sachdev and Hariharan lack the vibrancy and madness of the actors. They fall short on energy. However, these are small hiccups and don't take away too much from the track.

Watch 'Kaalakaandi' below. It will blow you away, in a good away.

The film will be released tomorrow (12 January).
