Television actress Dipika Kakar to make film debut with JP Dutta’s Paltan


This is JP Dutta's third war film after Border (1997) and LOC: Kargil (2003).

Television actress Dipika Kakar is all set to make her Hindi film debut in J P Dutt’a Paltan. She was recently roped in for the war film, which already has an ensemble cast of Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Harshvardhan Rane, Sonu Sood, Pulkit Samrat, Siddhanth Kapoor and Gurmeet Choudhary. 

Kakar announced the news on her official Instagram page. She shared the poster of the film and expressed her happiness saying, “What better could I ask for than being a part of a #JPDuttaFilm as my first one!! Such an honour to join the #Paltan.” 

The actress is known for her work in the long-running television serial Sasural Simar Ka, where she played the lead.

The other two female actors who have been cast in the film so far are Sonal Chauhan, Esha Gupta and Monica Gill of Firangi (2017) fame. Co-incidentally, Chauhan and Gupta starred in Jannat: In Search of Heaven... (2008) and Jannat 2 (2012), respectively. 

Dutta will be returning as the director after a break of 12 years. His last film was Umrao Jaan (2006), which was the remake of Muzaffar Ali’s 1981 film of the same name. Paltan will be Dutta's third war film after Border (1997) and LOC: Kargil (2003).
