Box office: Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor enter Rs200 crore club with Padmaavat


The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has earned a total of Rs203 crore nett in the domestic market so far.

Despite not releasing in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat continues to grow strong at the boxoffice.

The film made Rs43.50 crore in its second weekend, taking its overall domestic business to Rs203 crore nett, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

In the process, actors Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor's have entered the Rs200 crore club with the film.

After bagging an impressve Rs15.50 crore nett on Saturday (3 February), Padmaavat enjoyed a good Sunday (4 February) with collections amounting to Rs18.50 crore nett. 

Singh, who has only been around in the industry for eight years, has scored his biggest hit with Padmaavat. Singh’s last big hit was another Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, Bajirao Mastani (2015) that made Rs183.75 crore nett at the box office. 

Padmaavat is Singh's third films to cros Rs100 crore, after  Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela (2013), that made Rs112.97 crore nett, and Bajirao Mastani.

The film's success has bode well for Shahid Kapoor too. He has entered both the Rs100 crore and the Rs200 core clubs for the first time. Kapoor’s biggest commercial success was R...Rajkumar (2013) which made Rs65.99 crore in India. 

Padmaavat only elevates the status of Ranveer Singh while it gives Shahid Kapoor a great boost in his career. 

Made at an estimated budget of Rs170-180 crore, Padmaavat had initially released across 3500 screens in India.
