Bengali ethos essence of Dhrubo Banerjee’s Guptodhoner Sandhane; to be released on 27 April

The adventure film, starring Abir Chatterjee, Isha Saha, Arjun Chakraborty and Rajatabha Dutta, focusses on the various historical facts and elements of Bengal.

Dhrubo Banerjee’s debut film Guptodhoner Sandhane, starring Abir Chatterjee, Isha Saha, Arjun Chakraborty and Rajatabha Dutta, will be released on 27 April this year.

Guptodhoner Sandhane will present the brand new detective character of Sona Da, breaking away from the tradition of featuring detective characters (Felu Da, Byomkesh and Kiriti) from Bengali literature. The characters and the story of the film have been originally conceived by Shebhendu Dasmunshi and Banerjee himself.

The adventure film also focuses on the various historical facts and elements of Bengal. Filled with action sequences, the plot is thoughtfully woven with essential Bangla ethos.

Chatterjee plays the protagonist of the film, Subarna Sen, aka Sona Da, who is a professor of history and also a former student of the Oxford University. The film also features filmmakers Gautam Ghosh, Kamalaeshwar Mukherjee and Arindam Sheil in important roles.

“I never really expected so much assistance and response for my first project. Subhendu and I basically wanted to build a franchise that would help us look back at the history of Bengal. The character of Sona Da reintroduces us to the several facts from our past that we are on the verge of forgetting” said Banerjee to Ebela tabloid.

He also added: “Treasure (Guptodhon) is not only to be traced under the ground, it is also scattered almost everywhere around us. I don’t think there is a bigger treasure than history.”

While doing the research work for the film, Banerjee finished planning for three more films to successfully run a Sona Da series.
