Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have not only been co-stars, but also close friends over the years. But there was a time when the Dangal (2016) actor’s success had made Salman insecure. The Tiger Zinda Hai actor revealed the same while speaking at the TiE Global Summit recently in Mumbai.
Salman went 30 years back in time when Aamir’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak had released in 1988. It was the first film that gained fame for the actor. At the time, Salman was shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). The film made him a known name. But as it hadn’t released, he wasn’t sure if it would hit bull’s eye.
“The journey I began with Maine Pyar Kiya, not knowing if I would make it, and that time it was difficult because there was another actor, who had started his career and he had given a big hit. That kid’s name was Aamir Khan,” said Salman.
When QSQT became a hit, Salman felt insecure since he and Aamir stayed in the same locality. “He was from the same locality. I thought that he made it and if I didn’t make it, the whole Bandra would start laughing at me. So, my concern was only Bandra-Pali Hill and the friends’ circle, which just had four-five people,” added the Sultan (2016) actor.
Salman and Aamir have worked together only once in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Andaz Apna Apna (1994). The film didn’t do well at the box office, but is considered a cult favourite today.
