I feel bad for Swastika Mukherjee missing out on a fantastic role: Birsa Dasgupta on CrissCross

Actress Swastika Mukherjee has reportedly opted out of Birsa Dasgupta’s upcoming film CrissCross. Mukherjee claimed that she found the character penned for her extremely shallow.
Mukherjee further said to the Calcutta Times, “At this point in my career I want to do roles that will push me as an actor. But the scripts of this film didn’t have much to offer.”
Dasgupta’s urbane tale focuses on the individual lives of five women, who cross ways, but have contrasting personalities and ways of life. Their individual, yet interrelated crisis and accomplishments forms the crux of the plot.
“Swastika seems to be in a dilemma, so she hasn’t confirmed yet. She has read the script and wants to play a role that has been slotted for someone else,” said Dasgupta.
Dasgpta has already cast Nusrat Jahaan, Mimi Chakraborty, Sohini Sarkar, Priyanka Sarkar, Vikram Chatterjee, Indrasish Roy and Gaurav Chakraborty for the important roles in the film.
“Swastika is an old friend and I feel bad that she is missing out on a fantastic role. But I believe in time and destiny; maybe we will find someone more suitable to play the character,” added Dasgupta.
The film is being made under the banner of SVF Private Ltd and the script has been penned by Mainak Bhaumik. The shooting of the film will begin around the end of March.
