A Supreme Court lawyer, Runa Bhuyan, has filed a complaint against singer, Angarag Mahanta, known as Papon, with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights for allegedly kissing an underage girl on his reality show, Voice of India Kids.

The singer allegedly kissed a girl, who was among the many participants he was mentoring, during a Facebook live event for the show.

Hindustan Times, a daily, quoted lawyer Runa Bhuyan saying in the complaint, “I am shocked to see the behaviour of the said singer Angarag Papon Mahanta towards a minor girl where he is seen to be applying colours on a minor girl and inappropriately kissing the said girl. On seeing the video, I am seriously concerned regarding the safety and security of minor girls participating in reality shows across India."

In the singer's defense, his manager, Partha Gogoi, said 'it was not wrong in any manner.' Gogoi was quoted by local news website GuwahatiPlus.com saying, "The act was not meant to hurt the sentiments of any individual, and that it was not wrong in any manner, which is why they see no reason to pull down the video from the official Facebook page of Papon."
