Actress Sai Tamhankar, who will be seen in Dnyanesh Zoting’s mysterious thriller Raakshas, said his sincerity drew her to the film.
Speaking at the trailer launch of Raakshas yesterday, Tamhankar said, "When I met Dnyanesh and he narrated the script to me, I instantly agreed. His sincerity is also a reason for me accepting this script."
Tamhankar's last appearance was in Sachin Kundalkar’s Vazandar: Biggie (2016).
The actress added that the changing taste of the contemporary audience also encourages her to sign unconventional films. “I am excited as well as nervous. I am too excited since it is a novel concept. The current audience gives a good response to new ideas not just in Marathi but any cinema,” she said. “And if you keep working with different people, it also helps you as an actor.”
Although Tamhankar didn’t do a Marathi film for a year after Vazandar, she played an important character in Bejoy Nambiar’s Malayalam and Tamil bilingual, Solo (2017). The film starred Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salman.
Raakshas will be released on 23 February.
