The actor was presumably miffed at the cutting down of Twitter followers to 32.9mn, and announced that he might just quit the platform.

It seems even Amitabh Bachchan is not safe from the trappings of fame. The actor surprised quite a few people by announcing that he might quit Twitter after the social media platform allegedly cut down on the number of his followers.
The threat only served to push the actor to the top trends on Twitter yesterday. Needless to say, the veteran was delighted.
Bachchan took to Twitter to express his amusement saying, 'social media - you are a delight !! Following Followers & Tweets - you are a delight .. who to follow, you are a delight .. India Trends - you are delight'

The conversation began when Bachchan complained about a reduction in the number of his followers on Twitter. The actor celebrated gaining 33 million followers on 22 January, only to find it reduced to 32.9 million yesterday.
T 2599 - TWITTER ..!!!?? you reduced my number of followers .. !!??HAHAHAHAHAHAHA .. !! thats a joke .. time to get off from you .. thank you for the ride .. ð ð ð .. there are many 'other' fish in the sea - and a lot more exciting !! pic.twitter.com/85c15pDif4— Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) January 31, 2018
His outburst prompted a flood of tweets from the senior actor's fans and fan clubs. Soon, the social media platform was trending with the hashtag #WeAreWithAmitabhBachchan.
While it did not increase the number of his followers, the actor is pleased with the response. He shared a couple of them on his Twitter handle as well.
With his latest tweet, the actor seemed to be taking a sly hit at the criticism coming his way too.
Tweeting a couplet written by his father, Harivanshrai Bachchan — 'Tumne hamein pooj pooj kar patthar kar daala / Woh jo hum par jumle kaste hain, hamein zinda to samajhte hain' (Your worship turned me into stone / They who criticize me, at least consider me a living being), he seems to be hinting at the criticism for his reaction on the reduction of followers.

Either way, if the actor had excercised his threat, it would have been a loss to the platform to miss out on his quirky tweets.
