Jeethu's Drishyam (2013), starring Mohanlal, was remade in five languages including Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Sinhala. The Hindi version (2015), directed by Nishikant Kamat, had Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran in lead roles.
The new project will mark Hashmi's return to the genre that was responsible for his rise to stardom. The actor's record with horror films traces back to Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009). The actor has since been a part of three major horror films, the latest being Ek Thi Daayan (2013).
The yet untitled film is to be shot in a single schedule between May and July 2018.
