Aamir Khan is known to be a very private man. Seldom does he open up about his personal life.

But in a rare moment of candour on Valentine's Day 2018, the Hindi cine star chose to talk about his first crush, his ‘pehla nasha’ as he put it on Facebook.

"There is great excitement among people to know my pehla nasha," he said in a video post on his page. "Believe it or not, I fell in love when I was 10. Very few people know about this. I had joined tennis class. There was this girl who left me stunned (blushes), the first time that I saw her it was exactly ‘pehla nasha’ ... I just fell head over heels in love with her. I thought about her day and night.”

As is normal at that age, Khan never mustered the courage to express his feelings for the girl.

“I never had the courage to tell her," he admitted. "I was too young, she, too, was around 10-11 years old. She was truly gorgeous."

While he may not have been 'lucky in love', Khan said the episode helped his tennis a great deal. "I would be the first to come to the court and the last to leave," he said. "I wanted to impress her. Unfortunately, she left the city after a year and a half. It was unrequited love."

Khan said the first few times he fell in love, it was always unrequited. That is why, he said, "I always have a special emotion for lovers who fall in love but they don’t get the love they want. Wishing all of you a very happy Valentine’s Day.”

'Pehla Nasha' is one of the most romantic songs in Hindi cinema. The Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992) track had Sanjay Lal (Aamir Khan) having a huge crush on Devika (Pooja Bedi) but he is left heartbroken when he finds she is in love with someone else.
