Reports suggest that Akshay might not be part of the sequel of the 2013 sleeper hit.
Neeraj Pandey to helm Special 26 sequel, but Akshay Kumar might not be a part of it

The clash of Pad Man and Aiyaary, though averted, had a significant undercurrent to it. While Akshay Kumar helmed the social biopic, Pad Man, it was Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaary that had to back out and shift its release date. While there was no confirmation of any discomfort between the two teams, reports emerging now suggest the face-off might have had a long term impact.
Reports in the DNA and Firstpost.com suggest that Neeraj Pandey might choose not to cast Akshay in the sequel of his 2013 hit, Special 26.
DNA quoted Pandey saying, "We have registered a few titles. Let’s see when work starts. Like I mentioned, I still haven’t decided which film I’ll do next. But the titles are such that it could be in that year."
Although the director has denied any rift between the actor and himself, it is confirmed that their next venture, Crack, has been pushed indefinitely. The report quoted the director suggesting that the idea has been put on the 'back-burner' for now.
Akshay and Pandey collaborated on four films, namely Special 26 (2013), Baby (2015), Rustom (2016) and Naam Shabana (2017). Currently, Akshay is preparing for the release of Gold, which will be released on 15 August 2018.
