Case filed against owners, manager in CineVista Studio fire case

Three persons from the film studio have been booked for causing death by negligence in connection with the fire that broke out in CineVista Studios in Kanjurmarg last month.

The owner, partner and manager of the CineVista Studio in Kanjurmarg have been booked by the Mumbai police in connection with the fire which led to the death of boom operator Gopi Varma last month. The FIR was filed on the basis of the report submitted by the fire department. 

One of the owners of the studios is former actor Prem Kishen. 

The fire, which broke out during the shooting of the teleserials, Beppannah and Haasil, on 6 January led to the death of a boom operator, Varma. The Parksite police has held the three accused under Section 304A (causing death by negligence). 

A report in the newspaper, DNA, quoted an officer saying, "It is the negligence of the accused that caused the fire which led to Varma's death." 

The fire in CineVista Studios started on 6 January close to a generator near a film set on the studio.
